Hi June. I'm a reverend at all times. Sorry, silly joke. I'm in the L.A. area, though not affiliated with a church at the moment. I find I spend so much time 'ministering' in regular day to day life, and that 'the work' gets done so much better one to one, that I am not too eager to be involved in another organization. There is a wonderful story about God and Satan walking on the beach. God spots something shiny in the sand and picks it up. Turning it over in his hand he says, "Ah, the truth." And Satan says, "Here, give it to me - I'll organize it for you." Did you ever see the movie Mass Appeal? In one scene a young priest delivers his first sermon to the very wealthy parishoners of a big church, and not so subtly challenges their lifestyle. At the end of the service a woman walks up to the older, favorite priest and says with disgust, "I don't come to church to be preached to!" In my own life I have taken to heart the story involving Gandhi. When someone asked him for a message to take back to the people, Gandhi replied, "My life is my message." I guess this is all a long way of saying that I find the best way to help others (and myself) in their spiritual quest is by example. We get what we need when we're ready, or put another way, God comes to the hungry as food. Just stay in touch with your inner truth, and listen to that 'still, small voice inside.' And to end on a lighter note I'll quote Gandhi again: When a reporter asked what he thought of Western Civilization, he replied,"It would be a good idea."
