Subject: horses water tank cleaning problem

Somebody at a equine center said that I could put a few small fish in my horses water tank to cut down on algae production and mosquitoes using it for reproduction.

Reason I asked them is because I have been having to work odd hours more and most likely throughout the summer and haven't been able to clean their tank but once a week. During the week though I have been finding drowned insects, mosquitoes larvae starting up and algae 4 inches high (or free floating isles).

This water is well water so it wouldn't kill the fish. Also I would care for the fish during cleaning. Just wondering if anybody has ever done this and if so... what fish(es) would be recommended.

Thank you for any help in advance
Rhiannon
