have you covered foot care? i find so often that people, especially kids, overlook basic hoof care. they want to ride, so they saddle up and take off, then when done, just put the horse up, without even taking a look at their feet, much less clean them. i understand that not all kids do this, but many do.
since i started riding, many eons ago(in the 1960's), my parents taught us to always check/clean the feet before we saddled and then again after removing the saddle. it is a practice i continue to this day.
the horse i now ride, a neighbor's, doesn't get any foot care except what i now do, other than the one time they had someone trim his hooves (too short!!). they don't even own a hoof pick! so i have provided my own and religiously take care of his feet. some people just don't understand that if the feet aren't taken care of the horse don't go. lol
