The first thing that came to mind when I read your story is that maybe your horse was still hot from running around with "the girls", when he came in and ate. That can apparently cause colic in horses. Always make sure that your horse is cooled off before you feed him. As for the founder, make sure that you never over-feed your horse, especially grain. Also, in spring, don't let him eat a ton of new green grass. If he ever breaks into the grain bin adn eats a whole bunch, call the vet right away, especially as he has a history of colic!!
