I suggest you talk to the horse people in your community, camps, ect... visit some of the barns in your area and talk with the people, now you didn't say if you intend to take in boarders but if you do then one warning i have is investigate each boarder totally as far as horsemanship, what they expect and have your barn rules and contracts written out very clear,,,, take it from us this is probably the most important issue....
I can tell you of a couple of nightmares and we only have six stalls at the present time....
Also the expense is kept down by having your local company's build your barn, there are several sites you can get to online
