Hi Matt,
I am not sure what region your in but here in Maine, I am finding about $1200 is average for a green horse, there are ads saying $500 - $800 for a horse that does everything, beware,,,,,, if she does everything why are they selling her so cheap, granted you could get a deal but buyer beware of that, the cost of your horse is really irrelivant though, are you prepared for farrier costs, shoes, vet checks, meds, hay, feed, sawdust, and tack? I ask because I wasn't, fortunately I am in a position where I had reserve set aside for a rainy day but had I not then I would have been up the creek,,,, horses have a real knack for finding something to get into and needing vets, then you have the collick problem always over your head,,,,,,, lol believe me if this is your first horse and you have only ridden you need to do some research and figure out what your looking for,,,,,,, take it from a person who went out green and bought a totally green hot blood that sat in a field with its mom and grandmother for three years,, yahoooooo has this been fun, we are talking $$$$$$ for training not only of the horse but of me, seminars, training programs, and first aid classes,,,,, never mind an injury here and there, but I wouldn't trade the experience for anything in the world,,, I am totally in love with my little arabian,,,,,
