Don't know if this is it, but we had something go through a few of our pasture horses. Vet said it was ringworm, it is contagious, but only three out of 15 got it. Just bathed them with iodine shampoo, they got over it in about two weeks, started growing new hair. Better check with your vet though if it doesn't clear up or seems to get worse instead of stopping or getting better.
