Invisible Beauty
Have you ever seen the world around you?
No. I mean, REALLY looked about you?
Colors surround us everywhere we go
While most of us don’t seem to care
It is only recently that I’ve noticed beauty
All of its hues, textures,
things left unnoticed by preoccupied beings
hustling and bustling about their days
never noticing the tranquil blue of the lake
or the yellow of spring’s first flower
We need to see beauty
For all else means nothing
Jobs, exams, money, stress
All just distractions from the true meaning of life
Red yellow orange pink blue purple green
Colors are everywhere
We should accept and see them
For they make life interesting
It is love that has revealed them to me
The blue of his eyes
The blond of his hair
The way I look at him
While he has no clue I exist
Or is it because I stop to see them
To take the longer way back
when I check the mail
By watching the fish in the lake glide by
Living their own lives
In their own little world
Do fish stop to smell the sea weed?
For they seem to be biding their time
They set better examples for us than we do
For they know where beauty truly lies
Within the soul
Within the beholder’s eye
Or perhaps
Within the blue of the lake
