Subject: I think that there's greater stigma attached to bastardy in Jamie/Willie's time than there is in Bree's time. Jamie confessed to Claire that he was ashamed that his father (Brian) was a bastard. And he was FURIOUS with Bree that she'd consider having a child without first being married. I think that it has -- in Jamie and Willie's mind -- much to do with "honor"...as if their honor is somehow besmirched because of some accident of fate that was not of their doing. Went long...inside... ------------------>

But also, I think a huge issue Willie is dealing with -- EXACTLY as Bree did -- is a sudden lack of confidence in his own identity. Up to this point, he knew exactly who he was. But now, in an instant, that knowledge is completely demolished. That would be terrifying for any young person, I'm sure, but perhaps doubly terrifying for Willie, considering that he has derived so much from his previous identity: his rank and station in society, his wealth, his education, etc. It's not quite the same as a peasant lad suddenly learning that he's not the son of Farmer Joe, but rather of Farmer Fred.
