Subject: In episode 9, Jamie touches Claire on the nose - very cute and sweet, a lover's touch. In episode 16, Jack touches Jamie on the nose in nearly the same way. This sticks with me and is a very upsetting parallel.

[> In watching all of them in 2-3 days last week, I noticed so many parallels between Claire and Jamie's stories, too. I truly think they did an awesome job with this series! -- Lady-Jane, 17:36:25 06/19/15 Fri

[> Rape Scene -- elvira (Upset), 13:35:34 09/06/15 Sun

This is my first time posting . It took me awhile to find you all but thrilled I have...home at last!
Found my Outlander paperback in a Goodwill back in the '90's and hooked from page 1.
Even took me to Grandfather Mountain in 2003 for the Gathering of the Clans and made me a fan of Clann An Drumma/ Albannach.
I got very upset at Diana over the rape scene. I simply felt she didn't need to let something that horrible happen to my Jamie! I felt his shame, pain, humiliation and helplessness.
I suppose back in those days things like that were probably more common than we know...but to Jamie?
I despise Jack...both the 1700's and the 1900's one, I think he is a wimp and do not see what Claire sees in him after knowing Jamie...a true MAN!
The tv scene of the rape was heartbreaking and I, again, was angered by the situation Diana put Jamie in.
I guess that is the sign of an excellent writer...to bring out the feelings of her readers.
I hope I am fortunate enough to one day visit Scotland.
Thank you Diana.

[> [> Just remember it's a book, Diana is Jamie, so no need to cause so much heartache. I did find on a reread I couldn't read about Rogers hanging again, if it helps us. -- M&M, 21:55:51 09/20/15 Sun

[> [> We've all felt your pain with the hard-to-read scenes. With Jack it's all about power and conquest though with Jamie it gets a little warped into personal attachment as well. In bringing Jamie "to heel" he loses a bit of himself in the process and it becomes something he can't let go. Frank is a man of his times. He's seen horrific things in the war, probably has done things in the course of duty that haunt him at night, and in burying himself in academics is trying to be normal again, like everyone else who survived WWII. He and Claire probably would have made a nice, boring, comfortable couple. -- kgp, 05:38:06 10/07/15 Wed
