Yes, there are those that hesitate but not a lot. Since Apollo has a vest on that states he's a therapy dog most know that he is friendly. When I do encounter a child that may be afraid I show him/her how friendly Apollo is with the other kids or I have Apollo on a down looking away and tell the child to pet his back. If the child is still afraid I tell them it's OK and go on to the next child. I usually get them to pet Apollo. If it's an elderly person I always ask them if they want to pet Apollo. If they say no I go on to the next elderly. I do not encounter too many. Most want to pet Apollo. You will find it rewarding when Seb brings smiles to the many that you will meet. You and Seb may be the only ones that can bring some joy and happiness to someone that may not live long. That person may always remember that special time.
