We are in Texas as well and have a lot of mosquitoes. We keep our dogs on it pretty much year round. It is costly (our Boerboel recently got moved up to having to purchase two different sizes to meet his weight) but not as much as it could be to treat. Again you have to take your climate into consideration and if you will be in areas where there are more skeeters. hope this helps.
