Hi All,

I have spent ages fighting with trying to get a Database for the Boerboel up and running .. FINALLY - now it is (with a lot of help), but I am waiting for a dog-list to be uploaded to it.

After all that, though it is excellent for what it is designed to do, I decided I wanted another, far more powerful system - but ugh… it COSTS.

Being who I am - I want the thing to do what I want it to do (right tool for the job and all that) so yesterday morning I just went and paid the small fortune that I don’t much have.

BUT IT CAN DO IT ALL....

Having said that, the 1st one has usability functions that the more powerful doesn’t, (like clicking on a name within an open pedigree and opening it up further).

Flipping between the two, the 1st one is growing on me again – it certainly does have it’s appeal.. currently there are only 36 dogs in it – till a helper uploads a file containing thousands – so to test it as it stands I recommend going to letter L

If you click on the lead dog name (the one you selected originally) it will open up other detail about the animal.

With the more powerful one, I also purchased a "configurable genotype option" which I hope will allow me to input the Boerboel Appraisal system into it - for its use in "Virtual Mating" and outcome probability.

It supports a host of genetic diseases and phenotypes…

Colour genetics and sooo much more

Allows for a 250 dog pedigree (only 6 generation viewable at a time though) however supports an 8 gen. Ancestor List

Allows for 8 / 16 / 32 generation "coefficient of inbreeding" calculations as well as a 2g to 10g COI listing

I bought the Great Dane genetic disease listing (thinking it might be the closest in the troubles that the Boerboel faces) – I quickly opted for the generic and changed that order - but as I said before, I also bought a reconfigurable one - one that I can model to cater for the Boerboel specifically...

ok... So while that one is a few days away, it is something to look forward to, but alas, without the required data - it is limited to much the same as the existing one provides - and therefore an utter waste of money.

WHY DO I DO IT THEN...

Because I have the BB Breed at heart..... it is for their benefit - Tools that breeders / owners and even just fanciers can use to breed more wisely and effectively

It will take many generations to bread problems out of the breed, but we can do so if we breed wisely and with due diligence.

This tool is only as effective as its data - so I respectfully urge and beseech you to provide all the info (accurately) you can about your dogs.

For now, missing the powerful product, you are invited to view what I thus far have up. My website is however miles away from completion, but I had to get it up-and-running to enable the current database.

So without further ado, you are cordially invited to visit the work in progress at

www.molosserdeboeren.net

in the database, You do not need to register to view the database - only if you wish to add animals
this is in order to keep some form of control

please read the welcome message in the database homepage

a further note -- almost eveything in the pedigree is clickable - including within the areas it takes you
each one provides deeper info

click away - and see where it takes you

Regards

EngelseBoer
