To be honest, my wife and I didn't even know about Boerboels until we began doing extensive research of many different molossers. After several weeks of researching these breeds, our search kept us coming back to the Boerboel. Now we have 2.
Most of the Boerboel owners my wife and I know either stumbled across the breed almost by accident like we did or had someone refer them to the breed.
I fear that if the Boerboel becomes AKC, tons of people who normally would have no idea the bb exists will now discover the breed and want them for the wrong reasons. And those are the people who probably have no business owning one. Those are the same hoodlems who strut around petsmart with pitbulls wearing spike collars snapping at my dogs. They always seem VERY interested in my BB's when they see me petsmart. I tell them my dogs are just skinny Bull Mastiff's :)
