IMO, that is the problem. Culling (removing the weak from the breeding gene pool by spaying, neutering and such) is required for selection purposes. This is why I believe breed clubs should have their own registry, as the breed clubs are the experts of the breed...and therefore know best what is expected from the dogs.

The AKC will register any poorly bred dog that has paperwork...and therefore SUPPORTS the downfall of the working breeds.
