It seems from your above, you also are emersed in the show culture. Of course it comes down to the breeders but that begs the question, who defined the template for change in pure breeds that the breed clubs had to accept. Moreover the AKC does not define the creme of *the* crop it defines the creme of *their* crop. Big difference.

But refusing to be part of changing the future in AKC, and in particular, the future of the breed you love in AKC, will not make a difference. You have to be part of the solution instead of crying there is a problem.

Given there history and leadership, to expect the AKC now to now listen what the scientific world has long ago proven is fanciful indeed. That whole organization is entrenched with folks that actually believe that cramming a pure breeds into one standard, then judging the minutia of that standard in order for that dog to become a champion or best of breed, is of benefit to the pure breeds they champion. They are apparently to blind to see the mental and physical cripples that adorn there show rings. Be a part of the solution you say. The working Border Collie breeder’s tried, the working Jack Russell breeder’s tried, the working Fox Terrier breeder’s tried, the working GSD breeders tried and all were told to comply or get out. For the healthy future of there breeds, they got out.

You of are of course entitled to your opinion, but you are not entitled to the facts. But I do agree that no descent minded person supports puppy mills.
