From the North American Bordeaux Federation regarding "Standard": Disqualifying Faults - Mouth NOT undershot
www.nabfclub.org/standard.htm

WTF?!? If your dog hasn't been bred to have an overly short, misaligned muzzle to potentially cause tooth spacing, ocular, soft palate, closed nares, breathing/cooling problems, etc, it will be disqualified?!

I also see "Temperament: Dogue de Bordeaux is gifted for guarding, which he assumes with vigilance and great courage but without aggressiveness. He is a very good companion, being attached to and affectionate toward his master. He is calm and balanced with a high stimulus threshold. The male normally has a dominant character."

How does the NABF test, prove, quantify the DDB's "gift for guarding"?
If I may be so bold, I'd also like to see a video showing a NABF DDB showing his calm & balanced temperament in a high stimulus situation.. preferably without his tongue hanging to his knees, please (i.e., don't tire the sucker out so s/he doesn't have the gas to respond). I'm not saying you would.. just wanted to put it out there in advance.

This whole "you can fix it from within" crap is just that: crap! It didn't work with NAWBA (North American Working Bouvier Association), where Bill was on the Board of Directors. There are always waaaaaay more "show folks" than "working folks".. it's pointless to try to join 'em & change their collective minds. Show people have no idea of the hours upon hours of training & conditioning that goes into making a titleable dog. If a dog is "pretty enough" it can make "Champion" in 3 only shows (assuming 3 5-point "majors")!
Show standards change at the drop of a hat! Originally the Bouvier's hair was to GROW no longer than 2", nowadays it is to be GROOMED no longer than 2", & even still the dogs in the ring have more than that. Originally the Bouvier's skull to muzzle ratio was 4 to 5, now it's 2 to 3. How the hell is the dog *supposed* to be able to perform it's job (Dutch Police Dog) with such a short little muzzle?!
Let me put it plainly:
ORIGINAL BOUVIER

SHOW BOUVIER

WORKING BOUVIER

What current variation of the breed looks like it has closest maintained the "Conformation" of its heritage to you?
