A June 5, 2008 article in the St. Louis Post Dispatch provided the following update info:

The attacking dog was euthanized

The dog weighed 137 pounds

The dog was 7 years old.

The dog had previously received professional taining as a guard dog.

The dog had previously prevented the owner's wife from entering their home, and had bitten a child's hand.

The owner did nothing to provoke the attack as reported by a neighbor who witnessed the attack.

The dog "was highly aggresive to the end. We had to tranquilize him again just to get him ready to be euthanized." Theresa Williams, Director of Humane Services.

Anyone voluteer to research the dog's pedigree by contacting the owner?
