I've bred dogs for almost 15 yrs. I've seen and heard alot about attacks and abuse in that time, and much of it was NOT pretty. Alot of it stemmed from improper training, abuse, neglect of just plain idiocy.
And yes, most dogs who attack are abused.
People like Michael Vick are in every town in the world. Just most are not found out unless one of their dogs attacks someone.

And I am not afraid to say that anyone who does abuse a dog is definately getting what they deserve if that dog turns on them.
I have no tolerance for animal abuse.

As to a male BB of 100 pounds, what quality of dog would that be? The breed standard sure doesn't call for a 100 pound dog being correct.
Here it is: Generally males grow to around 70cm (27.6 in) tall at the shoulder and weigh approximately 65 – 70 Kg (143.3 – 154.3 lbs).
Females are usually slightly shorter around 65cm (25.6 in) and weigh less than the males at around 50 – 60 Kg (110.2 – 132.3 lbs).

And if this dog is a puppy, which I find it hard to believe a puppy would have such a bad attitude so young, as the sex hormones tend to drive temperament in some unstable dogs, I would say the dog should have been put down as a temperament like that on a puppy would almost be guaranteed to be evident at 8 weeks old.
Also, it would be very hard for a puppy to takem down and attack an adult man.

The problem is that if temperaments are so bad in sme lines of BB's, then people have to get their sh*t in order and start doing something before this breed ends up on a breed ban list.

If some of you say this is more common than people know... which is something I have not seen and am damn glad I haven't, then there needs to be a concernted effort to breed for better temperaments.

Yes, I may have grand ideas, but I am also one who looks to the future and tries to head off possible catastropies if possible.

You think things are bad now in some lines? Wait another 20 yrs. Now is the time to act.
My personal idea on this is compiling and sharing info... therefore, from what I gathered on this message board, I have kept all the kennel names of the dogs that were mentioned to have produced bad attitudes.
I will be sure to thoroughly investigate all pedigees of all dogs I ever breed to or buy in the future, and will make sure that that line is never added into my line.

Sure, maybe all BB's go back to these same dogs somewhere if you go back far enough, but keeping from adding it in and doubling up on some bad temperament genes can only help to improve things.

Michelle
