One thing I'm surprised I didn't see mentioned was how hard-headed boerboels can be. If left outside I've seen several BBs completely tear through chain-link. Like mentioned earlier, BBs want to be near their Owner, and when they are left to their own devices they can come up with clever ways to get out of where they are. 100 plus pounds of stubborn muscle can seem to find a way out of most enclosures, and once they learn they can do it, they never give up trying. Just to throw more info out there for you. I have a 2 year old female that can open gates, tear through 11.5 gauge chain link, tear through privacy fencing, and take an electric shock from a shock collar like a fly landing on her ear. She hasn't been able to tear up 9 gauge chain link, so that might be an expensive option as well.
All in all, if your BB is to be left alone, make sure he or she is completely wore out beforehand.
Simon
