Hesitation can result from more than one cause...

1. It could be from a lack of committment. This is true. However I don't think this is Gordo's problem based upon what I have seen.

2. It can ALSO result from a dog not being stimulated or in proper drive. Training should combine an association of command and scenerio. Being Gordo's training has been Schutzhund which is far more sport than real...and has become far more prey than balance of prey and defense...Gordo simply didn't have enough defense in his training IMO to make his association of command to scenerio reliable enough for REAL WORLD type actions OR in environmental factors that require proofing. Now...one can "proof" train for these environment by training in them and continue to use prey OR one can use training in DRIVE where proofing isn't as necessary as drive association type training puts the dog into reliable drive at the simply stating a word. I prefer to use drive association type training in this second manner. However, some sport trainers would disagree with me.

This is why one must EVALUATE THEIR GOAL. Norman trained FIRST for his goal of SchH...which he accomplished. Now he can convert Gordo into a street dog if he wants. And, if I can help I will gladly do so at no charge.
