I'd just like to say that Tashi, Norman, Mr. Harris, Julie Bailey, Dan G., Cameron McClure, and (now quite a few) others generally give excellent advice to complete novices such as myself. Some of them have years of experience and have forgotten more than I will ever know about dogs.
Others are farther along the path on training these types of dogs than I may ever get. I'm just trying to keep up...

I agree with what Tashi said above though. You can't train for every scenario, but you can reach a point with your dog where they will do what you ask of them regardless of the details (I am still working on getting there myself).

Early on, both Dan G and Norman told me that my dog had to be worked almost entirely in prey drive, and I agree with them from having seen a trainer slip into and out of defence with my dog. A really good sport trainer will probably find it easier to train in prey drive than a PP trainer.

Respectfully,

Colby
