You might consider your pups reaction to strangers as a guage of his/her confidence. We are seldom bothered or scared of things that we feel confidant and calm around.

On the flip side we will seldom try to take on or fight things that we are already afraid of.

So a pup that is calm and accepting of strangers is apparently comfortable (read confidant) with people and, if it is a guardian breed, it seems that would be the attitude preferable to being afraid. Sounds like nice dogs.
