Me and my husband have worked since we were 16 years of age and still working now at 28 and 29.We have always had medical insurance, paid our bills and earned everything we own.Never needing or taking any financial assistants from the government or anyone else.We have worked very hard to live and build a lifestyle above average because that is what we chose to do.We were brought up to believe that you have to work to earn what you want and the more you want the harder you need to work.I always thought that was true until now.I feel that maybe we are being punished for being successful. You see,in April of 2005 my husband lost his job right when his 90 days was up to receive medical benefits.Luck ally three weeks later he started his new job that he has now. While waiting for his 90 days to be up to receive medical benefits he had to be rushed to the hospital in an ambulance because all of a sudden he could not walk.We then learned he had to have emergency back surgery for a disk that broke and detached from his spine. That day in the ER we were told by a insurance company he could be admitted and he would be covered, but that was not the case. Two days later which was to late when the surgery had already been done a manager from that company left a message at my home to say"I'm sorry but your husband will not be covered the rep made a mistake".So hear we are still trying to get out of $30,000 of medical debt because of a mistake someone made, small to them big to us.We have tried to seek help from several associations and special financial groups only to be told no and for several reasons which I feel are discriminating.Such as your income, your home, your cars and my favorite"you make decent money just deal with and pay your bills".As time has gone by I have started to come across more and more articles in the paper about how homeless people, illegal citizens, none working individuals and low income people are getting help to pay medical bills and even clearing their debt up to $60,000+ that they can't pay themselves. They are worry free because special government grants, government assistance, charities and special financial groups will take care of it for them.In the meantime my question is this"Where do people like me and my husband who work and pay our taxes, which mind you go partly to some of those groups who can help us pay our medical bills when we have fell into a financial hardship?Without having collectors call, worrying about keeping our home (that we earned) and not practically going bankrupt.I mean when you work you are some what of an investor in your city and the united states.Without people working there would be no taxes to collect for anything. So where can I get help financially to take care of these medical bills like the people who have no insurance and can't pay their bills?I just wouold like some guidence on where we can get help or can someone help?
