Subject: Leak

I have a leak that is coming in my master bath. There is a skylight that is in the area of the leak so I think it may be coming in around the seal. As I have no roofing experience, what is the best way to check for the leak and then correct the problem?

What seal? The one where the glass is sealed in the frame? If thats your problem go to Home Depot and pick youself up a new skylight.

I doubt that this is your problem. There are a lot of causes why skylights leak and they all caused by lazy roofers that don't take the time to properly flash them.

If the skylight was leaking it would show signs of leaking extremely close to the skylight. Not in the area. Is it the top or bottom of the skylight. Is it in the well of the skylight? What kind of roof product is installed on the roof? Maybe they used shake step flashing in place of comp. I've seen roofers place roof to wall in place of pans for skylights. Could be a lot of different problems. Call someone with experience.
