I had (and have) a lot of shame associated with my bedwetting and my need to wear diapers and pants. As a result I loathed having conversation about my "problem." It didn't mean the conversations didn't happen. I just didn't initiate them. I envy the comfortable relationship you had with your mom about the topic.

The only people who saw me actually wearing the rubber pants were family members or hospital staff during two short visits (one night each). One friend of my mom's saw me in them once.

Like you I usually put them on after my last trip to the toilet either right at bedtime or a few minutes before. Once in them I would often lie in bed and read and/or listen to the radio. Sunday nights I put them on a little earlier. I would take a bath and put on diapers and rubber pants and pajamas and then come to the living room. That was my mom's and my main quiet conversation time. At my grandmothers house I always put them on right at bedtime.

Yes I did feel different after I put the rubber pants on. I hated that I wet the bed and hated that I had to wear "those things." But once I had put them on I had a feeling of security and confidence. Knowing they were absorbent and waterproof made me feel that I could confidently wake up with dry sheets. I LOVE DRY SHEETS!!

Did you feel more confident when you were wearing them?
