In the morning at my grandmother's house I would first check to see if I had stayed dry (which I usually did). If I was dry I would hang the underpants or diapers and the underpants on the window cranks on the back porch. If I wet them I had to rinse them in the kitchen sink and then my grandmother would hang them on a little clothesline between the back porch and a tree. Once they were dry she would throw them in the laundry hamper. At home I would fold my dry diapers/underpants and rubber pants and put them under my pillow. If I wet I would rinse them in the bathtub and hang them on the shower rod to dry, then put them in the hamper.
The only time I regularly wore rubber pants around the house was on Sunday nights after my bath and a few times when I was sick. I nearly always had pajamas on over them, though sometimes if it was really hot I would just wear underpants, rubber pants and a tee shirt. My mother often encouraged (and sometimes required) me to wear rubber pants at night so especially on Sunday nights I made a point of letting her know I was wearing them.
