My mother could be a bit inconsistent so my recollection is a little muddled as to when she insisted that I wear diapers. Certainly when we stayed away from home I know she wanted to be sure I’d have dry sheets. At home is less clear to me now. There were many times that she wanted me to wear rubber pants, but usually it was ok to put them on over 1 or 2 pairs of underpants. I think sometimes when we had company she either didn’t want the guests to know I was still wetting or she didn’t want the disruption of changing sheets. I do remember a couple of times she simply got annoyed with my wetting and I had to go back into diapers for more extended periods. It was less of an issue after she got me the soaker pants ‘cause then I would wear those under my rubber pants (and often times when I wasn’t in rubber pants.)

You mentioned having had a lot to drink or played hard. Were you allowed to have liquids after supper? I wasn’t though sometimes a cheated a little bit.
