Subject: Maryland should just switch to an open state pageant. Not enough interest in locals anymore. I doubt we'll see more than a half dozen local pageants this year.

[> Subject: So, it has been a fantasy of mine to start up a MD local, but I have NEVER been involved in any capacity (also, I don't even live in MD), but I'm curious - what does it take to run a local? Ball park shoe-string budgets for production, marketing, etc? I'm a director and producer in NYC (also actor), so I have production experience. I'm originally from Glen Burnie and would consider starting a local there. I saw a Miss Glen Burnie local pageant (or maybe Miss AA Co.) at the Glen Burnie Mall one year (I think mid-80s) and the girl who won was Kelly Koehler (before she was Miss MD USA). CLICK IN

I've also thought of perhaps starting a Miss BWI or Miss UMBC (my alma mater). This is truly just a seed kernal that's not even germinating yet, but I'd love to know what it would take. Thanks!
