[> Subject: Great first half of the competition but then we're reminded that this is Maryland and we can't prep a contestant for a National pageant and she comes out with a horrible talent selection (whoever advised her to sing that should resign immediately from pageantry and go into ANY other hobby) and then she gets a basic question about the election and she tells us to "support both candidates." Did anyone in Maryland even spend one minute prepping this girl on anything other than swimsuit?

More Prep for Miss and Teens

I'm very proud of Hannah's accomplishments, but the song choice was off. There are so many more songs that she could've sang! I agree Miss contestants need better prep and Teens need better National prep as well. The Teens get lost in the shuffle, and haven't faired well at Nationals. Maybe it's time to separate the Teen Competion from the Miss Competition. Teens should have different judges as well. It was very awkward to have the primarily Men Judging panel scoring the Teens. There has been a huge emphasis and time spent in the Princess and Prince program, and their numbers are booming. We need that enthusiasm and time devoted to help grow the Teen program, too.

I'm just disappointed in the "experts" who were advising her. Bad song choice and she should have been grilled on how to respond to questions about the election. But either way she gave one of the most terrific swimsuit presentations on the Miss A stage. I just wish she was a little more well rounded - she could have placed a bit higher.

Keep in mind Hannah won overall interview at Maryland and probably did so well out at Miss America because of interview. Lets be honest this is what Miss America is all about. Savvy will never perform her talent again this year. It's about how well she can speak. And you are eluding that Hannah isn't smart. She did outstanding in Quality of Life and she was nominated for Woman in Business. She runs her own nonprofit from age 15. She must be doing something right. You clearly have never spoken with Hannah before. She is personable and bright and I can see how she did so well at Miss America. Stephanie is talent only. Not the full package. She is meant for broadway not a full time job as Miss America visiting people and schmoozing sponsors. She does nothing with a title. Go back and look at facebook as Miss Allegany County. She did one appearance. That's not what this pageant is about anymore.
