1. Enga was and is continued to be ruled by a tyrant who has absolutely no regard for compliance with the Provincial Government Act, The Public Finance Management Act, Leadership Act and other general guidelines and procedures that governs the whole system of governance.
ANSWER:
Generally, you have stated the extreme of all situations, deriving conclusions based on your own perceptions and leniency towards the kind of political support and ideology you have.Ipatas has manipulated the system at all fronts to give the impression that he is complying with the laws and rules of governance, yet, you and I as Engans know what happens back at home. We cannot deny the fact that funds are miss-used everyday. The writer’s view was not a personal view but a collective view of independent literature and events that are a normal occurrence in Enga.
2. The Governor has been having unfettered access to hundreds and billions of Kina from the resource grants and the National Government.
ANSWER:
Facts that are known to Engans have been stated in the article. Facts of misuse of power, and of money and position to gain self-interest for himself and for his supporters. Engans understand that this is only the tip of many things going wrong with the Ipatas government. Dispute against the facts. Stating such statements as ‘unfettered access to hundreds and billions’ is an extreme, misleading statement, diverting the true meaning and spirit of which the article was written.
3. The general public of Enga has been suppressed oppressed intimidated and even imprisoned for any hint of public pressure, opposition, protests or general rebellion.
ANSWER:
Again, you have stated the extreme of the situation. We don’t need an historical Hitler-type government today in modern-day, democratic Enga to prove the existence of such. What we are experiencing today is today’s version of the same as it was experienced during the times of Hitler. You as an Engan know that the Ipatas government sacked simple teachers who didn’t show support for his government. You know that every Tom, Dick and Harry in the Ipatas Centre is all Ipatas’ man. The rest, whether being ‘suppressed, oppressed & intimidated’ is natural for a dictator-type government. Again, we are not in Hilter’s times to miss the obvious.
4. Governor Peter Ipatas is NOT APPROACHABLE and is NOT BASED in Enga but enjoys a lavish lifestyle in Port Moresby or even overseas.
ANSWER:
‘Approachable’ is a questionable word of its own for whatever context and purpose you want to use it for. In the context of the article, if you are not on Ipatas’ side, unless you plan to make an alliance and vote him for the next election or to give him a pig as a form of reconciliation as it happened in Kompiam station a while back, you don’t need more prove to state that the Ipatas government is NOT APPROACHABLE. Your statement about “NOT BASED in Enga but enjoys a lavish lifestyle in Port Moresby or even overseas” are your own and nowhere in the article you would find such terms. Again, this proves the extreme stand you have taken to dilute the actual and true meaning of the article.
5. Governor Peter Ipatas had not delivered ANY TANGIBLE DEVELOPMENT during his 10-year governorship role; hence no benefit had been felt/experienced by the Engans.
ANSWER:
The question raised in the article was about political investment; hence, the question of tangible development was in that respect. In politically motivated investments, it does not matter whether a development prospect has some value of tangibility; rather what matters is the key motivation behind that investment. Where there seems to be a number of possible reasons involved, we look at the main reason behind it. If you look at Enga’s investment and development strategy by the current government, all has been motivated by politics. Therefore, no tangible development in its true context.
6.Because of the above; Engans everywhere are doomed and have no better prospects, hope or chance to be competitive with other Papua New Guineans in all manner of pursuits.
ANSWER:
Those who do not know the Engan method of thinking can read the literal meaning of the article. For you, whom I perceive you as an Engan, must read it in the Engan context. Let me rephrase for you what you have written “Because of the above, Enga needs to make a corrective stand”.
Engans are by far, competitive on their own and it does not need the government to support them. By nature, we don’t seek answers within the box but outside, hence we exploit the opportunities the world has to offer. Enga itself is a small box. People like you, need to seek your answers to such narrow and derivative views outside the box where all naturally competitive Engans are. The Ipatas government is only trying to undermine and diminish that natural God-given talent that every Engan possesses.
