The team that loses in OT already gets a point. The article I read had Wilson quoted as saying teams should get 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an OT win, and 1 point for either a tie or the OT loss. The only difference is the additional point for regulation, which would make teams play harder in the last few minutes of regulation if the game is played.
