Tired but back!
After leaving Cape Town last Saturday and returning yesterday, all I can say is that it was again a great success.
We hunted at a few places like Mooi River, Colenso and Harrismith. Especially at Mooi River the soil was rock hard as the area had hardly any rain in the past few months.
Plenty of finds were made and I had much better finds than two years ago at Harrismith and Ladysmith. I am sure that the guys will post some pictures over the next few days of their finds.
Regarding the various competitions that were held I am sorry to say that I haven’t got a full description of the entries, category winners, prizes with pictures and the various sponsors. I know that Mike will post a full description of the entries that were received for the Best Find of the Trip competition. (Mike is a military buff and will give a detailed explanation of each entry). Regarding the other competitions I hope that Tony or Lukas will post a full list of the entries, winners, prizes and sponsors).
Stefan won the Best Find of the Trip competition with a Six Penny Military Canteen Token that was found at Harrismith. I am sure someone will post a picture of it soon. Our Gold Coin Competition was won by John du Toit. I haven’t got a description of his three entries but am sure John could do a multiple picture post for us on his excellent entries. Wolfgang won our best find of the first day competition. Dawie won the most coins found competition. A Big Congrats to all our winners and sponsors.
I am still to sort through all the pictures that Lukas send me and can only post the group photo at this stage. It was taken near Colenso at a small British Cemetery…
A big thank you to Lukas and Tony who made everything possible. Hope to see you all again in Cape Town next year where our 2009 hunt will be!
