Guess why I had so many Guineas the past years is because it is hard to keep them going. More you have the easier it is to have some.
I sold out over a year ago. Felt good not feeding and cleaning pens and waterers.
I got some guineas from Brian. Nice and different ages and colors. Well, Murphy's law too over. After several weeks of keeping the grown ones in pens they all took off and come back a time or two and then vanished. Now the younger ones did fine until the snakes took over. Did not matter what I did to protect them.
I finally bought more half grown and just let them out a few weeks ago. Yes, the dog too care of some (neighbors) and ran others off. I have 3 pearl roosters sticking around. Guess I shall be satisfied with the 3.
I keep mowing around barns to keep clean so maybe the snakes will not show up.
I also got some pigeons from Brian. Pretty and nice. Yep, snakes got to them as well. I did a lot of work on the loft thinking the snakes would not get in. But that did not work. I only raised Squabs during the winter months. Yes was nice. Then spring came along and had sever nests with squabs and eggs. You guessed it. Got all but one squab.
Most of the pigeons have moved off to neighbors. They keep coming back for feed during day time. Maybe they can raise some young ones where they are.
Thanks for asking Bren.
