Subject: 2 chickens died

I have not been to this board for a very long time. Imagine my surprise when I "saw" some of the same old faces. I am hoping you folks can give me help or advice with my problem.

My latest batch of chicks are about 8 weeks old, and I ran out of feed over the holiday weekend. I knew they could go a day without, but I wanted them to be comfortable. I gave them some goat sweet feed. I came home this evening with the chick grower for them, and found 2 had died. Could they have choked on the large coarse goat feed? I know they did not starve. Everyone else seems energetic and healthy. I am sad they died, but I am more worried about the rest. If this is not what killed them, I am worried the rest could get sick and die. Advice please.
