Subject: shipped eggs?

I know you have heard a lot say it but shipped eggs are really risky. I have tried it maybe three times with only one good result. Summer time increases your risks. Then I also know it is hard to find eggs local to hatch. This is when it almost gets cheaper to just buy chicks even with shipping costs. You will need to weigh it all this year and figure out the best route. I am just now beginning to hatch black, blue (still no splash) chicks. If I get anything worth selling I will let you know. So far this is all new to me as far as color. I am still figuring out black from blue. LOL I do have some really really nice started birds that I thought were black but now I know they are blue...LOL It took Lyn and Deb to explain it all to me. Problem with them is the fact they are so dark. They will not be show quality at all but could possibly be good for somone's breeding pens. That will take someone with more experience to say for sure. But isn't that always the way? The best have just one little bitty thing that is wrong. You know like four toes on that otherwise perfect chick OR one bad split on 4th and 5th toes...LOL That all it takes I guess.

I will keep my fingers cross and hope this hatch goes well.
