I like to put all the tables, chairs, signs, and just extra stuff away myself so I can reflect as I do. This was another GREAT year. I am really not tired or beat down at all. :) Now I am sad and wish we could make it last longer but you can just stand so much of a good thing before it wears out.

I do have to tell on myself though. Gary had caught two more hogs besides the one BIG one I caught and Lyn wanted the meat. We got up at a decent hour Sunday morning and we went down and killed the two hogs that were still in his trap. I have seen this done before but I hadn't SEEN LYN do it. She does know how to skin a hog folks. I took pictures while the whole deal was going on. It really doesn't bother me BUT when they got Lyn's cut up in quarters to pack for transport she was rinsing the meat off and told me to put it in the zip lock bags. OK...warm meat, cold water, washed clean, zip lock bag....I reach out and the dang meat starts quivering! YIKES! Now I just couldn't pick it up. Lyn was cracking up at me. No pictures of my face to share later either. LOL LOL

Lyn took a quick bath, packed the rest of her car and headed out. John and I always start putting things away and reliving the day once more. His dog Peaches has a 10 x 10 dog kennel that we were going to double in size. The panels were there ready to expand so we decided to do that yesterday morning too.

John commented on the Hatchin' Hut and how well it was working and that all seemed to enjoy seeing the chicks, keets and pea chicks that had hatched when SUDDENLY IT HIT ME! It was high noon and I hadn't turned on the air for the birds!!!!!!!!!! The dang house was 106 in the high area and 102 down where the birds AND incubator were! HOW STUPID! I just sat the fan outside and started blowing air in to force some of the hot out as well as turned on the air conditioner.

The chicks, keets and pea babies were laid out flat looking DEAD and those that raised their heads were panting. Besides being without air I had the lights on over three brooder cages.I started even misting the chicks and threw open the incubator door misting in there too.

I had nine guinea eggs due today and they have all hatched without problem. Two peafowl are due and one of them is pipping so I am thinking I may have survivied the heat event.

Nearly all is put away now. The new birds are settled in. The chicks are being spread about a bit more to give a few more growing space. All is well in Paradise today.

THE END of Voo 2008! THANKS to all who came and who helped make it a sucess!
