Subject: worms in poo

I think I recall that some of you do fecal floats on your birds poo to look for worms - so I thought you guys would be 'in the know'. I saw a pile of poo the other day when I let the birds out - not sure if it was guinea or chicken, but most likely chicken - and it had lots of squared off rice sized worms in it. Nasty. What kind of worms are these? And what do I use to treat the birds with? Last summer/fall I wormed the whole flock with the pour on ivermectin. I've used that the last few times I've wormed. Should I roatate and use wazine or some other wormer to prevent resistance? Also, I know that you're not supposed to eat the eggs for a while after worming. But what about fertility? I want to hatch out all the guineas I can and they are laying heavily right now. But I need to get rid of the worms too... Help.

PS - does anyone know if these worms can affect dogs? I have a new dog that is wonderful - except he is a poop eater. He is on heartworm preventative, but will that kill everything he is exposing himself to?
