Subject: Update on my Americana Hen...

A friend came to visit Saturday and she held the hen while I used a large syringe / needle that I got from the vet to try to draw out fluid. We were only able to get a tiny bit of fluid so we are just going to let her go on as she is. This has to be her crop that is distended to large soft ball size. You can feel the feed and it's mushy with fluid; goes down during the night. She doesn't have a pasty butt and is eating and drinking with good appetite. The only problem that she seems to have is when she runs to me and this big floppy bag swings back and forth. Everything else seems normal except for this large "thing" hanging down from her chest.

It isn't her abdomen and she isn't egg bound. Her droppings are normal and she's had this condition for at least two years and maybe longer. She is very mobile and doesn't seem to be in discomfort or pain. I am going to just leave her along and let nature take its course. I just thought I'd bring you up to date and close the topic.
