Subject: Wild hogs in Paradise

Those of you who know our story here know about the wild hog situation. We have them come through often and this year they have been up on our place as well as Gary's river bottom land.

Today a lady came to pick up some keets and she mentioned the pig running around. It sorta went in one ear and out the other until I SAW IT running down Gary's drive way. From that distance it looked like a little white piggy. I thought nothing more about it and visited with the gal wanting keets.

Late this afternoon I walked out the back door and was started to SEE the piggy up close! Right in the back enjoying the damp ground around the house. Of course when I have something exciting I need to tell someone and John being at work got off the hook. Gary on the other hand answered his phone to hear I had a pig in the back yard. Ofcourse he asks what kind???? Well it is white with black spots on it's skin. "humm" he say, " sounds like a wild one". Over he comes and we decide to try and catch it since my DH told Gary he wants to cook one! I grab a large metal cage, some hot dogs buns and a bowl of water. Guess I have piggy tastes because he was ready and willing to gobble up bread all the way into the cage. It just was a bit faster than Gary when he dashed to close the door. Gary had plans to play cards so he left and I started thinking. LIVE TRAP...we have a big one. So I get it and try to figure out how to open it so I can set it. Do you already see a problem???? I get it set and can hear the pig behind me grunting...OH GREAT...it is going to attack. I head into the Hatchin Hut and wait. Piggy goes behind all the shurbs and comes out just in front of the cage and starts eating it's way into the cage. Put it's first foot on the wire bottom AND OOOPS! It didn't like that feel so it goes around and around trying to get to the bread from the outside. Gives up and goes slowing into the trap eating and edging ever so close to the plate it needs to step on. Well it steps on it...walks all over it....backs off and steps again. NOTHING happening! I can't set the thing I guess. About this time Gary drives off for his card night and doesn't even look my direction to see that I could be badly attacked by this wild hog. LOL So I failed and then suddenly .....it closes and I HAVE CAUGHT THE WILD HOG!!!

Now I never had this much excitement in the ciyt. LOL
