And my hens never need much extra warmth, they are like lil' hothouses under that fluff! Depends on what bedding they are on too, I guess, mine are in deep shavings/leaves and burrow them eggs down in a nice hole with them on it. The guinea in the brushpile has leaves and feathers all around her. I think they know what is best.
I noticed something too, about guineas, since Lucy lives in here at the moment. Her lil feet are so hot! When she sits on my arm, her feet are just like lil light bulbs, all toasty and warm!
