I would also suspect something they ate if there was no mark on them and it is not worms. I know how you feel. Last month I lost almost a dozen chickens before I figured out what was wrong. In my case it was worms, but it was pretty disheartening to go out in the morning and find dead birds. They were dropping like flies until I wormed them. I haven't lost one since then. Hope you can figure it out.
