We've thought about this option, but it's not made our Todo list just yet. It's a good idea though, and can help users in navigation.

Reloading is okay, just make sure to look at the banners and maybe visit the sponsors. :)

Yes, there would be some way to show the current message being read. :)

The color-changing of links to visited-links is done by the browser, automatically, for links. It's not under our control when they update the color. Although it wouldn't have been too hard for them to make a visited link's color change immediately when the destination page was loaded -- they just didn't do it. But they also didn't put in very important options like "page scaling" and such, which should be considered a necessity, IMHO. :)
