Each original message is a "thread" -- you can set the maximum number of threads in the Archive config.



The total number of original messages plus all of their replies equals the total messages in your index/archive -- you can set a maximum which takes into account these as well; it is the maximum number of messages.


Whichever limit is hit first will cause a rotation/archival to occur. It sounds like you just need to lower your maximum(s) a bit.
