This is a wonderful board, first of all. We are pretty new to the pageant world, and it is soo hard to find information.
I have a question about shoes for my 9 year old daughter. We are starting off at the local level, and slowly getting our things together to go bigger. It has taken me awhile to find out if she is supposed to be wearing short, or long dresses. I have had alot of different answers on this, and at the local level, I am seeing both on children in her age group. I have finally chosen a short dress for now, but what about shoes? I know they should be white. But satin, glossy, matte, plain, heel or no? And socks? Lace, plain, or matching material from her dress?
I was just amazed at the amount of rules to pageantry, yet the lack of information. People just don't want to give it up in this hobby, there seems to be a learn it yourself attitude. Anyway, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

Hi.... what I see for that age is matte Mary Janes (crepe or leather - satin is difficult to keep clean and makes their feet look bigger). A little bit of a heel looks good on that age. You can get them at a bridal store, better shoe store or online (colorifics is one brand). Best of luck!

Oops! Forgot to answer your question about the socks. The socks should be thin, made out of a light, stretchy material. (super-cheap socks don't work as well). Can be synthetic or cotton but make sure they are tight-fitting so they don't sag. They usually have a small amount of white lace. (but nothing big or fluffy or they will have that "clydesdale" look!) Roll them over at the top so the lace meets the shoe. Best Wishes!
