Subject: becoming a pageant coach

I was contacted by a mom to be a coach to her 17 yr. old daughter who is entering a Miss Teen USA state pageant. I have no experience in pageantry, but I am a professional runway model and work both large venues (NY Bryant Park, etc.) and smaller venues (Neiman Marcus Grand Openings, Saks, etc.)as well as print modeling. I am also a professional m.u. artist and aesthetician. My husband and I own our own photography studio which caters almost entirely to the modeling industry and we have worked with experienced models from the larger agencies like IMG, NEXT, Ford, Elite, Women, DNA, IM New York and others. He is straight from Italy, here 10 yrs., and we style all of our shoots together. I am a public speaker and I act in theatre productions. My downfall is definitely not knowing the climate of pageants or the pro-am style of choreography. I can teach a girl to carry an evening gown like nobody's business and how to turn so that when she looks into the audience, all she sees is the bottoms of people's shoes. I can teach her how to be confident regarding whatever topic she chooses and I can teach her stage make-up because it is so close to the photography make-up techniques we employ. We do portfolio work for models and help them assemble their books for clients too. (The last girl we helped out for a state Miss Teen USA pageant won at the state level with our photo. I did not help her with any part of her pageant, beyond the picture.) Should I offer my services to this young woman? Or does she belong in the hands of someone who has real pageant experience?
