Hi everybody! I am a pageant mom that decided to scale back a couple of years ago. We did all the big nationals and won our share, but it just got to be too much. So we quit. Recently, my daughter decided she wanted to be in pageants again and I decided it would be best to get back into the swing of things at some local pageants. Well, she won one last weekend and I was just as excited when they put that little tiara on her head as I was when she won Supremes at big nationals. Isn't that funny??!! Anyway, that's my background, but now I have a H/M question. I've always done her hair myself, and can do it quite well (I thought I'd lose my touch, but I didn't - wow) but I have never done an updo. She is riding in a parade on Saturday and I don't want to have to do the super frozen look to keep her curls and teasing in (she has fine hair) I have seen some styles on some sites that I thought would look really good on her, but I don't know how to do them. It's where the bangs are slicked diagonally across the forehead and there's a slight poof then all those curls on top. Every time I've tried to do curls up top I end up with frizz or these stringy things hanging down all around her head. I want that full bouquet of curls fluffed up on top. I know it can be done because for a photo the H/M did it and it looked gorgeous. I just can't figure it out. Anybody out there help?

Try Redken Hot Sets or Redken Willpower sprays and an extremely hot iron.

I've done hair at the Miss U.S.A. pageant twice and do alot of local pageants, I suggest one leave out the front till last french twist the back(or if hair is to short to twist use 4 ponytails close together to appear fuller)but wich ever you decide make sure to leave out the hair you plan to curl next curl with a smaller iron make sure the curl are good strong curls you can also tease the base of the to make it appear fuller finish off the curl with a light wax or palmade then begin to pin each curl where you want it to lay. last take the front you have left out and sweep wiht a fine tooth comb. any ? just e-mail
