Subject: OT How did you spend your Mother's Day?

I know for some that have no parent or grandparent or anyone to celebrate the day with it can be a lonely time.
Having no mother or grandmother it always was just another day and there were times I wished that I'd stayed home from church even with the sermon and the recognition of mothers.

Last year on Mother's Day I know God gave me the idea to ask a very good friend who was a few years older if she would "adopt" me. Neeedless to say she was touched by the request and its been fun signing my cards to her as her "daughter".

Yesterday I had a gift for her and sat with her and her husband in church. Afterwards I asked if I could get a ride home and on the way they asked if I'd like to have lunch with them which I happily accepted.

This had to have been the best Mother's Day for me in a long time.

Mary

What a nice idea. I bet your friend is just as happy to adopt you as you were to have someone to celebrate with.
Sounds like a win win to me. Instead of being alone feeling sad, you made it nice for both of you. Good job.
Higs,
Dorothea

Oh what a lovely idea Mary!
I am so happy that this has worked so well for you as well as for your friend.
It is great to look on the positive side of things and make things happen so that we can be happy.
Well done Mary, glad this was a great day for you : )

Hugs
Doreen

That is a lovely idea.... even for some with children, it can be a lonely time....

I spent Mother's Day seeing my new grandson for the first time. He was able to come home from the hospital on Friday and wild horses couldn't keep me away! What a sweet baby... you can sure tell that he was premature though... bless his little heart... and fingers and toes... lol

hugs,
♥Marcia

My friend does have two adult sons from previous marriages that she has a close relationship with. Neither one lives around here though.

Her husband really thinks a lot of me but doesn't say a lot. I'm thinking of a little bookmark or something for Father's Day. My friend thinks he'd really love that.

What a wonderful idea for both you and your friend. I still have my mom, but couldn't be with her on Mother's Day. My husband lost his mom in Oct. and it was a very sad day for him (and me, as she was a dear MIL). How nice that you turned a sad day into a much better one for both of you! Blessings, Diana in CO
