Subject: OT--Sort of in a Panic
DD has called me a couple of times today and she is having cramps down low. She is 7 months along and we are really hoping that she isn't in early labor. Said that the pains are about 5 minutes apart but she isn't having anything other than pains....no water breaking or anything else. I told her to put her feet up as much as she can while she is at work and see if that helps. Both of my kids were born C-section so I have no idea what labor feels like and DS #2 was adopted so I'm really out in the dark.
Just keep her in your thoughts that everything is okay for now please.
Hugs

Karen, my neighbor had "Braxton Hicks"
http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=braxton+hicks.
They are miserable but do not hurt the baby. I will pray this is your daughters situation.

Re: OT--Sort of in a Panic -- Doreen, 17:16:10 04/30/08 Wed [1]
Hi Karen,
These sound like Braxton Hicks contractions.
I would not panic but I would not take any chances either, if they persist I think your DD should consult her doctor or midwife especially if there is anything else associated with the cramps like lower back pain or cramping, do not take chances...here is a site where you can read about this...
http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/antenatalhealth/physicalhealth/braxtonhicks/
I am keeping her in my prayers and you too Karen.
Hugs
Doreen

She just needs to rest. It is a sign that she has pushed herself too hard. I would contact the doctor if they continue. As far as being in labor, you know. The pain is horrible. They are like regular cramps times 100. Also as long as there is no blood, I wouldn't be too worried, just keep a close watch.

Took DD to the hospital just to make sure that everything was okay. She has a Bladder Infection and the muscles in her stomach (uterus) is stretching. DD wouldn't have paniced had Allison Rose not moved since the night before. The little monkey's heart beat is strong as can be and she is great. DD has to take an antibotic for the next 7 days. Thanks for all your thoughts and prayers, we had a scare but are all okay now.

Thank God! My son was 10 weeks premature and although he is fine (he's 19 now), he was very sick and it was no walk in the park. Pleast tell your daughter to take it easy. Blessings to you all, Diana in CO

I am sure you all have a better peace of mind now. Blatter infections are fairly common during pregnancy. I will keep her in my prayers. Just make sure she takes it easy!

O.K Karen..what kind of condition you gonna be in when it really time for the baby to come.. I think we need to start a thread on how to keep you calm during labor..I cant help out there because i don't have any experience with the grand baby thing yet and all 3 of my babies where c section but the drug they give you for that where really good.. I just wished I had them during the Hormones from hell stage 11 to 16 with age 14 bing the worst LOL

Re: OT--Sort of in a Panic -- Darla, 14:47:18 05/01/08 Thu [1]
Most likely it is a sign she needs to slow down and rest. But in my experience a call to the doctor is a good idea. She could have pulled a muscle while doing some house work or any other activity without realizing it at the time. It does happen. But do have her phone the doctors office and let them know what is going on she may need to be checked as a precaution. Mainly don't panic! Keep calm and keep her calm. Darla

Oh , Grama ,
I see you go from panic to Joy to wanting to spank that infection.
Our Emmy was born a month premature after our DIL had a Bladder infection.
Just know , Grama >>> Babies do what they want you to do even if it's not TIME .
Blessings and Health to you all.

Re: OT--Sort of in a Panic -- Darla, 14:55:56 05/01/08 Thu [1]
I didn't read all the post. I went back and seen where she did see a dr. and all is well except for infection. I hate those! Very Glad all is well. Tell her to never hesitate to call her obgyn about everything. The staff is there to help always. In my opinion there is nothing too minor to call and ask about if it gives peace of mind to have the answer and calm the mama to be. Again glad all is well. If she can stand it tell her to drink cranberry juice. The colder the better it is. And she can go with cran-strawberry. It is very good. Sweeter than plain cranberry juice. Sams brand at wal-mart is good. Also plenty of water. Got to flush those pipes out. LOL. Darla

Karen, I'm glad your daughter was seen by a doctor and I hope the meds do the trick to clear up her bladder infection and relieve the pain. I'm really happy to hear that the little one is doing so well. Mothers/Grandmas worry and we mothers/grandmas sure understand.
