I know a lot of you have already seen this posting elswhere, but I figured with the re-opening of the new/old forum I'd take the opportunity to post this wee reminder. There's less than two weeks to go now and everything is flying right on track! Tickets are selling and the bands have been reporting back to me that they're all stoked to get up and play! It's going to be a great night! And so again, here's this year's press release... ------------------------------------ In 1986 the world lost one of its finest songwriters. Here’s a little something to keep you from forgetting... Monster Records is proud to present, Toronto’s THIRD ANNUAL, "THIN LIZZY - a celebration: the music of Phil Lynott" Saturday August 7th, 2004 at Healey's (178 Bathurst St. Toronto, Canada). For the third year in a row, some of the finest musicians on the Canadian indie scene are coming together to celebrate and pay tribute to a true warrior poet, Philip Lynott. Since his untimely death in 1986, Thin Lizzy’s Phil Lynott has left a musical legacy that continues to influence and inspire musicians around the globe. Even the legendary Bob Dylan has been recently quoted singing Lizzy’s praises. Over the years, Lynott’s songs have been covered by an array of such diverse performers as Henry Rollins, The Corrs, Smashing Pumpkins, Randy Bachman, Huey Lewis, Metallica, The Cure and most recently, Canada’s own Emm Gryner. Last year the show was a resounding success! In all, 12 bands performed to a wildly enthusiastic crowd. Performers and fans alike had a fantastic time and this year stands to be even better! It’s set to be a jam-packed evening of great performances and great songs. Here are some of the confirmed acts so far: The Crawling Kingsnakes, Galore, Tacoma Redd, National Anthem, The McBrides, Crash Kelly, Crazy Babies, Four Deadly Venoms, Beyond Therapy and more... including some very cool special guests! The show starts at 9pm sharp. There will be door prizes, and we'll be taking orders for personalized, autographed copies of Philomena Lynott's book, "My Boy”. (which is currently in pre-production as a major motion picture starring Holly Hunter as Phil’s mother, Philomena) Once again, Philomena has graciously offered to take time out of her busy schedule to pre-record an introduction for the evening. All ticket proceeds will be going to the Roisin Dubh (“ROW-SHEEN DUV”) Trust for the construction of a Phil Lynott Memorial in Dublin. Tickets are only $10 in advance and $15 at the door.
